TRANSFER FROM UNIVERSITIES ABROAD

University senates may set quotas for transfer applications from higher education institutions abroad. In order for a candidate to transfer to our university, the relevant program must have a quota for international transfers.

Transfers are not permitted to:

  • The preparatory classes of associate and bachelor’s degree programs,

  • The first and final semesters of associate degree programs,

  • The first two and final two semesters of bachelor’s degree programs.

Application Requirements:

  1. For transfers from a higher education institution abroad into programs in Turkey that require a national success ranking (such as Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, Law, and Teaching):

a) The university the student originally enrolled in must be ranked within the top 400 in at least three of the international rankings accepted by the Council of Higher Education of Turkey (Times Higher Education (THE), QS World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), CWTS Leiden Ranking) for the year the student began their higher education.

b) If the university is not within the top 400 in those rankings:

  1. Students who completed their secondary education in Turkey must have taken the national central placement exam (ÖSYS/YKS) and achieved the required success ranking for the relevant program and score type in their year of enrollment.

  2. Students who completed at least the last two years of secondary education abroad must have successfully completed at least four semesters (excluding the preparatory class) of the degree program they enrolled in.

  3. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 in their current program and have no failed courses during that period.

  4. The student must not have received any disciplinary penalties, except for a warning.

  5. The student must not have interrupted their education (except for officially approved leaves such as registration suspension).

  6. Candidates applying for international transfer must either:

  • Present their ÖSYS exam result certificate from the year they were accepted into their current program, or

  • Have obtained the required scores from the exams specified in the Ankara University Guidelines for Admission of International Students.

Applicants who meet the required scores will have their transfer evaluation calculated based on the formula outlined in the Principles of Transfer Admissions set by our University Senate (see: https://oidb.ankara.edu.tr/dosyalar), and placements will be made according to the evaluation score.
