International Students Office Coordinatorship

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To carry out the application and registration procedures of exchange students (students who come for short-term mobility under bilateral agreements). (Note: The Student Affairs Department is responsible for students other than exchange students. See: https://isoidb.ankara.edu.tr/),

  • To manage the application processes of international academics and stakeholders who wish to visit our university,

  • To announce application requirements in Turkish and English for all full-time international students (not exchange students) who plan to apply to our university,

  • To provide guidance services for both exchange students (within the scope of academic protocols) and full-time international students throughout all stages from pre-registration to graduation,

  • To provide information about campus life, housing/dormitories, and health services to both exchange and full-time international students, and to improve conditions as much as possible,

  • To prepare and implement an orientation program for full-time international students in cooperation with the Orientation Coordination Unit,

  • To ensure that all faculties, institutes, and schools affiliated with our university have designated academic representatives responsible for international students, and to offer coordinated solutions to students’ academic and administrative issues through these representatives,

  • To organize social, cultural, and art-related activities for international students,

  • To offer counseling services to international students for any questions or issues they may face,

  • During the registration process for full-time international students, to connect students with student clubs and representatives, assist them in joining clubs based on their talents and interests, and prepare informational booklets, brochures, etc., to help ease their integration into university life,

  • To share announcements about upcoming events and matters concerning international students on social media and official web pages,

  • To promote coordination among university units in order to ensure that international students receive quality education and are supported in developing their personal and social lives,

  • To establish effective collaboration and coordination with institutions that play a significant role in international students’ lives outside the university (e.g., Provincial Directorate of Migration Management under the Governorship of Ankara, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, etc.),

  • To promote our university in international platforms,

  • To respond to inquiries received via email or telephone regarding our university through the International Student Office,

  • To work closely with TÖMER (Turkish and Foreign Languages Research and Application Center), which supports international students’ language learning, and to introduce the educational opportunities and services it offers.

International Student Office provides consultancy to all international students from application process to graduation. Office is responsible from all international students from undergraduate to PhD levels including exchange students.

The Office established in 24/06/2009 and operates under the University Rectorate in order to co-ordinate Rectorate and the other academic units. Office also acts as a liaison between a student’s home institution and Ankara University in the framework of bilateral agreements.

Mission

The main objective of the Office is establishing the necessary infrastructure for pleasant and successful education life for international students. In order to reach that goal, the Office provides all useful and necessary information to all international students from registration to graduation, guidance to all administrative procedures related to both university and governmental institutions and organize social and cultural activities for easy orientation.

Vision

Provide academic, administrative and social consultancy to international students to contribute to international development and internationalization target of our university.
