Folklore
The earliest Turkish sources of folklore, also known as folk science or ethnology, are the Orhun Inscriptions. Prior to the scientific era, proverbs, legends, stories, fairy tales, folk songs, and travelogues could be found in various sources.

In Türkiye, folklore research has highlighted specific themes within folk literature, ethnology, and Turkic studies, bringing forward key elements of folk culture. Traditions and customs, particularly those related to birth, weddings, and funerals, form a widespread folklore network.
